Trafford Hall Woodland Wedding // Bethany & Chris
I think probably one of my favourite things ever is a woodland wedding. You can take all the beautiful flowers and stunning decor in the world, nothing really beats the authenticity of nature itself. It was no surprise to me that these lovely folks, Chris and Beth would choose such a gorgeous woodland wedding setting for their day. We’d met up during their engagement for an e-shoot in Delamere Forest, just to get them used to the camera and it was the perfect relaxed boho feel.
Being Chris and Beth’s photographer, was a total pleasure, they are just so down to earth and I was made to feel so, so welcome by all their friends and family. They found me on Facebook and I’m so happy they did and that they chose me to capture their wedding day in the woods.
We fell in love with Jess’s relaxed arty style; it was exactly what we were after. We felt like she could capture our day perfectly and make us feel comfortable too.
Their gorgeous woodland wedding at Trafford Hall was a total boho affair and their honeymoon….well I’m just incredibly jealous of their amazing honeymoon! It involved a week staying in an old Victorian tin chapel in the woods with a log fire, an AGA and beautiful stain glass windows. Spending the week cooking soup and sketching all the quirky things in and around the chapel. (jealous right?) Then for the second week……only adventuring around the North East coast, looking for Dracula and riding Captain Cook’s boat in Whitby Bay! I know! I mean really, does life actually get any better than that?
Chris and Beth met at Uni in Liverpool, on a night out at a club in the city and it was love;
I couldn’t get up to a platform in my heels so I just grabbed onto Chris and didn’t let go! Our first date was in Sefton Park in Winter, we had planned to “accidentally on purpose” meet whilst Chris was on a run. We ended up talking on a bench for hours, Chris’ legs were blue with cold in his shorts and a little old lady walked past and said “aww it must be love”
Chris proposed to Beth in a beautiful spot in Wales, on the top of Moel Famau.
I had complained the whole way up about how I needed a wee and which bush I could duck behind. When we got to the top we looked at the amazing view and it was then that Chris got on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said yes (obviously!) We then had some Nettle tea we had brought in a flask! At the wedding we chose heather as a significant flower as Moel Famau gets a coat of heather during the year.
Chris and Beth chose the forest at lovely Trafford Hall near Chester for their woodland wedding and then did the formalities inside the Hall itself. They wanted the day to be boho, relaxed and natural and for all their guests to feel relaxed and just have a great day celebrating with them. I think it was absolutely perfectly just that;
We wanted the theme to be nature as we love being in the outdoors! We decided upon a woodland wedding theme and bringing the outdoors indoors as it matched our woodland ceremony. We named the tables after trees and included antlers and log slices on the centre pieces with acorns, pinecones and conkers that we collected ourselves.
We got married on a Friday. We love the friday feeling! And wanted a date in early autumn time as it’s our favourite season! We wanted the day to be super relaxed, meaningful and natural and just reflect us as a couple. Chris and the groomsmen wore black jeans and waistcoats and the bridesmaids could pick their dresses in a colour scheme. I bought my dress from Needle and Thread as I’ve always loved their clothes!!
Chris’ said his most memorable moment was seeing me at the top of the aisle waiting to walk down, he didn’t know whether to look or not as he was starting to well up!
Oh how I loved this wedding! Thank you so much to Chris and Beth for choosing me to join in all the epic gorgeousness from your day, wishing you an amazing future together. If you are planning a woodland wedding, get in touch with me, because did I mention how much I love a wedding under the trees……
Love Jess x
