Describe your wedding in three words

Family, love & relaxed

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

Original date was postponed, this was the closest date to the time of year we were originally due to marry

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met on a night out in London for my friends 21st birthday. She is exactly a week older than me and I was working in a pub at the time so I could have her birthday weekend off or my own and I chose hers. A friend from her uni came and he brought Matthew with him and the rest is history!
I took Matthew to Mauritus for his 30th birthday. A number of times over the 7 years of us being together he had asked “will you marry me one day” the last time he asked I said it has to be for real the next time you ask me. He suggested a walk on the beach one night and so we went, he asked me again and I reminded him what I told him last time he said it and he got down on one knee with the ring.

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

We wanted a relaxed day filled with our friends, family and fun that we would never forget!

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

Up until 10am on the morning of the wedding my Dad wasn’t able to make it as he and my Mum had had covid and he was too poorly to come but he made it and got to walk me down the aisle and do his speech. I remember feeling so nervous but excited to walk down the aisle after being together for 10 years and it was so special seeing Matthew’s face when he saw me.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

Through the power of Google!! We loved your style from the start, neither of us are super comfortable doing lots of posed pictures, plus we just wanted to spend time with the people we love as we had barely seen them due to covid rather than doing a long militant “photoshoot”. Your style is so natural and relaxed, just what we wanted!

Wedding song?

I walked down the aisle to Christina Perri A Thousand Years but we didn’t have a first dance – not our thing at all, too awkward for us!

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Book Jess as your photographer!! Book all the suppliers you want and like best early so you don’t settle for second best and most of all enjoy the day, you only get to do it once (hopefully!) and it goes so quickly. Besides no one is going to notice if something is slightly out of place or done a little differently.

Are you going on a honeymoon?

Yes we went to Sri Lanka for a week and The Maldives for a week.
