Sandon Hall Wedding Venue

Sandon Hall – A beautiful manor house in Staffordshire

I am a real homebird. I love Cheshire, where I grew up and where I now live with my family. So I consider myself really lucky that there are all manner of incredible venues right on my doorstep. As well as Cheshire I shoot weddings all over the North West including North Wales and Shropshire – which has a special place in my heart as it’s where our family caravan is. My happy place!

During wedding season you’ll also find me just over the Cheshire border in Staffordshire. There are so many beautiful wedding venues there. One of my favourites is Sandon Hall, a stunning country house perfectly placed in between Stafford and Stoke on Trent.

Exclusive use Staffordshire wedding venue

Sandon Hall is a manor house with a unique charm. It is the ancestral home of the Harrowby family, who still live within the grounds today. The first Baron of Harrowby bought a shooting lodge back in the 1700s. After extensive building work that shooting lodge became an impressive Georgian manor house designed by renowned architect Samual Wyatt.

Sadly, almost a century later, that home was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt in the Jacobean style. That house has stood on the site since the mid 1800s and, today, is a wedding venue, a country retreat and host to all manner of cultural activities. I am desperate to go to one of the plant fairs they regularly hold there!

As a wedding venue Sandon Hall is up there with the best. It’s one of the most popular venues in the West Midlands and it’s so easy to see why. It’s luxurious, it’s stylish and it looks like it should be the setting for a period drama! Plus the Hall is surrounded by over 400 acres of amazing gardens and parkland, so there’s no shortage of places for wedding photos!

Wedding photography at Sandon Hall

Couples at Sandon Hall love my relaxed, documentary approach to their wedding day. And Sandon Hall itself lends itself perfectly to a more laid back day. It might be grand but it has a really lovely, cosy feel to it.

Sandon Hall is the ideal place for every part of a wedding day – from morning preparations right through to the evening party. Couples can get ready there, which means there’s no need for long car journeys ahead of the ceremony. Always an added stress you can do without! The bedrooms at Sandon Hall are beautifully decorated with huge windows, perfect for hair, makeup and photographs. I am a big fan of natural light!

Another bonus of Sandon Hall is the choice of ceremony spaces. Couples can get married out in the beautiful landscaped gardens, or in one of the rooms within the Hall including the warm and cosy library. If you want a religious ceremony then there’s even a church within the grounds, the 13th Century All Saints Sandon Church.

I have to say though, my favourite place for couples to hold their ceremony is the conservatory. Filled with flowers and plants it is an absolute dream of a space. Light, airy and just stunning. I love the mosaic tiled floor and there’s even an indoor fountain! Even if the weather isn’t quite playing ball it’s a great place to hold your ceremony, you get all the light and the views of the gardens, just without the threat of rain!

Sandon Hall is exclusive use, meaning couples and their guests are able to take over the entire Hall  for their wedding day. It can feel like one big house party there! I was honestly so blown away by my first visit to Sandon Hall and I’m so excited to photograph there again.
