Dove Barn Weddings // Sarah & Peter

Describe your wedding in three words

Special, Fun, Perfect

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning)

We chose it as Peter is a teacher and we wanted a summer wedding so Peter and I could relax for a few weeks after without having to rush back to work. It was almost exactly 2 years from our engagement (02.08.19)

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met at Newcastle University in 2015 – I (Sarah) was in my final year and Peter was studying for his masters. Peter proposed went we were on holiday in Malaysia and Singapore. He proposed after dinner on the beach in the Perhentian Islands – It was perfect and not at all expected ! When it happened it clicked why he had been acting strange for the last few days, but I’d never thought much of it.

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

We didn’t really know what we wanted for our wedding and I wasn’t really sure where to start ! I certainly hadn’t spent my childhood planning my wedding. Majority of the time we had our wedding planned was spent in lockdown so we found all suppliers and inspiration from the comfort of our own home! Pinterest and Instagram can we so helpful in finding ideas we liked. In the end we knew we wanted a relaxed wedding and dove barn was perfect for it. I wanted bright colours for the flowers that were unique with lots of foliage and asymmetrical unlike your typical wedding flowers. They were gorgeous! Lots of the props in the venue and signs were handmade as we have lots of talented family members ! We loved that the venue left it to us to arrange decorations and we could setup however we wanted.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

We had such a good day so it’s really hard to pick. Peters uncle Andy wrote and read a poem at the ceremony which was so lovely and all guests enjoyed it as something different and also relevant to myself and peter. The speeches were just perfect and delivered so well by David (best man), Brendan (Sarah’s Dad) and Peter. We were just so thankful to have all our closest family and friends in one place and celebrate. We were particularly pleased that both peters grandparents were able to join us to celebrate the day.

We didn’t plan for the rain but didn’t let it ruin our day!

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

I was browsing on Instagram and loved your work, We are not ones for posing for photos and it looked so natural. I also loved the idea of having an additional video package without needing to hire an additional videographer, such a nice touch. We had so many lovely comments about your photos and how good you were at capturing natural moments throughout the day

Are you going on honeymoon

We went on a ‘mini moon’ to the Lake District due to uncertainty with foreign travel when we got married. However we are in process of planning our honeymoon. We hope to go on safari/ beach holiday to South Africa in the near future.

We had such a great day would recommend all the suppliers / venue to anyone who is planning their wedding. Wish we could do it all over again!

REVIEW

“Jess made us both feel at ease on the day of our wedding, she has a really relaxed and natural style which we love. Leading up to the wedding Jess was super helpful in offering her advice and very approachable. We have seen the previews from our wedding, they are amazing and we are all really looking forward to seeing the photos when they are ready! So many of our guests commented on how great she was at capturing the perfect moments. She is very talented. Thank you Jess and also to Chris who videoed our day and was equally as great at making us feel at ease.”
