Abbeywood Delamere // Jo & Ade
Abbeywood Delamere wedding with Jo & Ade
Describe your wedding in three words
Relaxed, outdoors, quick!
Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)
We wanted to get married ASAP from the proposal date and this was one of the last minute available dates at our chosen venue. 4 months from proposal to wedding.
Anything about how you met/proposal story
I proposed to Ade because we’ve always joked that I’m a strong independent woman. We love our spa days so I took him on one and proposed on a daybed by the pool. It was a total surprise to him! I proposed using a photobook of us that had the question on the last page. But what to get a bloke as a proposal gift?! He loves socks so I gave him a pair of socks that had boyfriend embroidered on them but it was crossed out and had fiancé underneath….he loved them! The waitress at the spa brought our drinks over in personalised mugs I’d had made. Mine said ‘she asked’ and his said ‘he said yes’ …fortunately he had! We bought some haribo from a garage on the way home and put on a jelly ring each.
Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day
We really wanted to be married outdoors. Ade wanted a teepee but i didnt want to be cold! Abbeywood was perfect! Definitely wanted lilybear involved.
Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day
Reuben crying at the beginning of the ceremony then as soon as he was taken away, lilybear started barking! Eve was our only quiet child!
Ade got a speeding ticket on the morning of our wedding dropping me off at the venue! He wrote to the police hoping to be let off but as you can imagine they said no….but they did send their congratulations!
Whilst getting ready, I was presented with a small photo of my dad that was attached to my bouquet and his wedding ring on a blue ribbon to attach to my bridal Converse. It was my something borrowed and blue that my bridesmaid had thought of and my mum had lent me. I hadn’t expected it and it really took me by surprise how emotional I felt about having him walk down the aisle with me in spirit. Luckily I hadn’t had my makeup done at that point because I burst into tears!
How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day
We looked through wedding albums whilst viewing abbeywood and they were yours! I loved your style and I wanted someone who knew the venue so we would get some amazing photos in all the brilliant locations it has. When we met you (in the wrong pub) we just knew you were the photographer for us!

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?
One of my Bridesmaids is currently planning hers and my only advice is that if something is keeping you up at night then it’s not the right decision! The right decision will bring peace! I realised this when I was stressing about the colour of my dress and the veil I’d chosen….I changed both and I was instantly happier and relaxed!
Are you going on a honeymoon?
We went on a minimoon to windermere in our caravan so we could take Reuben and Lily with us. Hopefully will get abroad next year for a honeymoon!
Anything else….
Just thank you so much! We had the best day and it was enhanced by you being with us 🙂 we still laugh that we’d all had enough of family shots and just gave up on them! Thank you for taking us outside into the tropical garden when the light was just right and thank you for the magical sparkler shot. They’re all amazing but these times were precious as it was just us newlyweds having time by ourselves. I could not have picked a better photographer for our special day!
