Owen House Wedding Barn Venue

Owen House Wedding Barn – a bespoke, family run barn venue

Owen House, based in the pretty village of Mobberley in Cheshire, is a fab venue. Perfect for couples who love to party! It’s charming and rustic but has such a cool vibe. It’s family run and they have put a lot of thought into making it a great venue, whatever the time of year. It’s utterly unique and has so many options for an incredible celebration.

Weddings at Owen House

Set on a working farm, Owen House was a real labour of love for the family. They converted the barn and outbuildings in 2013 and since then have held hundreds of amazing weddings and events. The venue is exclusive use so couples and their guests get the run of the place. There’s lots of accommodation on site as well as in the surrounding towns and villages so people coming from further afield don’t need to worry about having to travel too far at the end of the night.

The family really have thought of everything during the restoration and conversion of Owen House. Morning preparations take place in the Beauty Shed. A purpose built space for the bride to get ready alongside her bridesmaids. Huge mirrors and salon chairs line one wall – for all that pampering! There’s comfy seating, a fridge (for fizz of course!) and a shower room. It’s just a short walk from the ceremony barn too, all undercover, so whatever the weather you’ll arrive at your ceremony looking absolutely perfect.

Grooms haven’t been forgotten either. Pre-ceremony they can hang out in the Baa-Ber Shed. Decked out with vintage lamps, a proper barber’s chair, table football and a beer fridge it’s the ideal spot to chill out before the formalities. As an added bonus there’s even a huge 40” plasma screen!

In the past few years there have been a few more additions to create the perfect day for couples. These include the Shooting Gallery (more about that later) and the Birds and the Bees – a luxury suite for couples to enjoy on their wedding night.

Ceremonies at Owen House Wedding Barn

The Civil Ceremony Room is a rustic, intimate setting for you to say our vows. Guests enter through a secret door from the main barn, and take a seat on one of the wooden benches. There is so much scope for couples to add personal touches to the space, from candles to bespoke lighting or floral backdrops. It’s a deceptively large room, holding up to 120 guests but still feels nice and cosy.

After the ceremony, on sunny days, the drinks reception takes place outside. Although there is plenty of space in the main barn if the weather changes or people want some shade. I love that there are plenty of great undercover spaces at Owen House, especially for family group photos which can take place in front of the huge wall of haybales in one of the barns. It’s such a great backdrop and so much fun for people to clamber up onto the bales.

The Shooting Gallery is Owen House’s bespoke photographic studio. I’ve never seen anything like this at any other venue! There are so many different set ups in there from huge barn doors that let in lots of lovely natural light to a wall of fairy lights and some fab props and backdrops including wooden ladders, milk churns and panelled walls. It’s a great spot for couples to get some time away from the celebrations and for me to capture some portraits of them.

I’ve photographed so many great weddings at Owen House, and love it when couples put their own stamp on the place. If you’re planning on getting married there then get in touch, I’d love to hear all about your plans so far.
