Favourite day ever

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

We wanted a summer wedding to get the most out of our venue, which has lots of outdoor space and gardens (typically, it was then drizzly most of the day 😀 but this didn’t turn out to make any difference to how much we loved our day!)

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met on the very first day of Freshers at uni and then discovered we were staying in the same halls, were on the same course and in the same seminar group, so there was no escaping each other!
We got engaged on holiday in Mykonos, where Alex had planned on proposing at a lovely restaurant overlooking a cove but got put off by the intense waiters and ended up proposing back at our room, just as I came out of the bathroom after a quick toilet break on our way down to the beach for a cocktail!

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

Relaxed, natural, English cottage garden type feel. We didn’t want anything too formal and wanted to make sure we had a good party and dance in the evening.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

When Alex licked/hopefully-pretended-to-lick the knife after cutting the cake, which Jess captured perfectly.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

We found Jess on Instagram and instantly loved her relaxed, natural style. She made us feel as comfortable as possible on the day and captured some lovely moments of all our family and friends too. We’re so grateful for Jess’ photos that help us to remember every bit of our special day.

Stick to what you like and value as a couple to help you plan your own personalised celebration and party

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We went to Mauritius for our honeymoon, which was pure heaven

“We were so glad Jess was available to capture our wedding day. We knew she was perfect for us after falling in love with her natural, laid-back style of capturing all the lovely little real moments. On the day, she put us at ease straight away, making us laugh, keeping us calm and enabling us to soak up every minute (as well as helping us overcome some inner awkwardness along the way!). The option for the slimmed down videography package was perfect for us; we didn’t want to spend lots on being filmed the whole day, but wanted to capture some natural moments, along with the ceremony and speeches. Both Jess and Chris, the videographer, made a fabulous team and went above and beyond to help our day run smoothly (including tracking down the father of the bride on the morning of the wedding for the dress reveal shots… and waiting patiently for a further 10 mins for him to finally appear!). Our families all commented on how wonderful they both were, and we couldn’t have wished for better people to not only capture our special day, but also become part of it too. Thank you so much!
