A Woodland Adventure with the Drewitts: Energy, Laughter & Real Moments
Fun. Energetic. Easy-going.
That’s how Andrea described their family photo session – and it couldn’t be more spot-on. This shoot was everything I love about photographing families: full of movement, connection, and those wonderfully chaotic moments that remind you how much joy little ones bring.
Andrea reached out after searching online for a Cheshire family photographer and said she was instantly drawn to my style. Her goal? “To have some good quality family photos capturing us as a family.” Simple, honest, and meaningful.
The Shoot
We spent our time strolling through the woods, letting the boys take the lead—because when kids are in charge of the energy, magic always follows. Andrea said it best: “It felt like a nice stroll through the woods with just a few prompts from you.” That balance of gentle direction and natural interaction is exactly what makes these sessions flow so beautifully.
And the energy? Off the charts—in the best way. The boys kept things lively, especially when they started launching themselves off a wall for Mum and Dad to catch (don’t worry, they nailed every landing!). Another funny moment? Trying to get them to walk slowly instead of running absolutely everywhere-which, if you’ve ever had a 5-year-old, you’ll know is nearly impossible.
The Gallery
When Andrea received her gallery, she couldn’t choose just one favourite-“I have 29 favourites! 25 and 135 are possibly the top two.” And honestly, I love hearing that. These photos aren’t just snapshots-they’re memories in motion, and it’s so special to know they’ll be treasured.
A Few Kind Words
“The family shoot with Jess has been such a great experience. Easy-going and relaxed, without too much posing, but enough prompts to make us feel not completely lost in front of the camera. The hour flew by and Jess was happy to go with the flow (or more the boys). I hope we can get some more photos taken in the future to document our journey as a family.”
This session was a beautiful reminder that family photos don’t have to be stiff or formal-they can be playful, fast-paced, and full of life. Thank you so much to the Drewitts for such a joyful hour in the woods. I hope to capture more chapters of your story in the years to come.
