A Relaxed, Happy, Fun Afternoon with the Raine Family

There’s something so special about capturing a family just as they are — relaxed, full of joy, and soaking up the simple moments together. That’s exactly what made the Raine family shoot such a treat.

Why This Shoot Was Extra Special

Like many families, the Raines found themselves without many photos of all three of them together. Life moves quickly, especially with a little one, and they wanted to freeze time for a moment — to capture their daughter while she was still little, just before she begins her school journey. It’s these milestones, these fleeting stages, that make family photography so meaningful.

A Favourite Moment? All of It.

When asked what part of the shoot they loved most, the answer was simple: all of it. Their daughter had an absolute blast exploring the woods, balancing on logs, and swinging with Daddy. The whole experience felt more like a fun family outing than a posed photo session — which is exactly the vibe we aim for.

One of the standout moments? When I gently asked her to “rub noses with Mummy” — and she went full force, squashing both their faces together in a burst of giggles. Those are the kind of real, unfiltered memories that stay with you.

Picking a Favourite (Or a Few)

Now that they’ve received their gallery, choosing a single favourite image proved impossible. The shortlist? Numbers 12, 24, 29, 83, 113, and 169. Each one a glimpse into their connection, their laughter, and their little one’s adventurous spirit at age four.

Why They Chose Me

The Raines found me through a Google search, drawn to the natural, laid-back style of my work. With none of them loving the spotlight, they wanted someone who could make the experience feel easy and genuine — and I’m so glad they felt the woods were the perfect match for that relaxed vibe. It turned out to be exactly what they envisioned, and the photos reflect that perfectly.

In Their Words…

“We had a great time having our photos with Jess and couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Jess put us all at ease, including our very camera-shy daughter, and was so adaptable to what she was doing — meaning that the photos are relaxed, natural and really capture my daughter’s personality.”
