A Newborn Session at Home with Baby Alfie

There’s something so beautifully calm about photographing a family in their own space – no stress, no rushing around, just real moments as they unfold. This newborn session with baby Alfie, and their two gorgeous cocker spaniels was exactly that.

At just 3 weeks old, Alfie was still brand new to the world, and the whole session felt like a quiet celebration of those early days – sleepy cuddles, soft light, and the peaceful rhythm of a home adjusting to its newest (and tiniest!) member.

Nicole described the shoot in three words: special, relaxed, comfortable – and that really sums it up. The energy was calm and gentle, with lots of space for feeds, snuggles, and time to just be.

We spent most of the session in the lounge, which quickly became Nicole’s favourite part. The light was beautiful, and the whole family looked so at ease. Alfie, wrapped up and snoozing, nestled into the arms of two very smitten parents.

And let’s not forget the dogs, the family’s cocker spaniels, absolutely determined to steal the show! One of my favourite moments was catching Maple trying to sneak into the photos in Alfie’s bedroom – full of personality and totally part of the gang.

Nicole discovered me through lovely word-of-mouth recommendations from friends (thank you Danielle, Zoe, and Katie!) – and it was such a joy to meet this new family and document such a precious time for them.

Choosing a favourite image was tough for Nicole, but number 167 just edged it – a moment that captured so much emotion and connection.

Jess recently did a newborn shoot for us whilst our baby Alfie was 3 weeks old. Jess made us feel completely comfortable and relaxed, and was happy to include our two cocker spaniels in the photos which was really important to us. Jess didn’t rush us, even when our little one needed a feed – she made me feel completely comfortable and captured some special images of the moment. Jess was so quick to come back with some sneak previews which was really appreciated. I would really recommend Jess – great communication, quick turnaround on the gallery of photos and Jess is just a lovely person! And most importantly, we absolutely loved the pictures!
