The details

All the little details at weddings truly motivate and inspire me. The attention to detail; thoughts and personal involvement which can have taken hours of work with months of preparation or a spontaneous detail that ‘just had to be’. This tells me the story, the who and the why something has that meaning it does, the colours, the reasoning, taking all of this and building the shoot to encapsulate the day in the way that is truly memorable, emotional and unique to the couple.

Recently working with Steph from Flossie’s (who can be found in Winsford, Cheshire) at Amy and Tim’s beautiful summer wedding was testament to the impact that attention to detail can provide for a special day. I admire the diligence and execution of Steph’s visions; from the ‘little things’ that may simply be glanced which are given just as much care and attention to delivery as the stunning centre pieces.

The venue, The Oak Tree of Peover in Cheshire was adorned in gorgeous blush and peach colours, complimenting the Bride and Bridesmaids dresses. Amy and Tim added their own personal touches and wonderful details that really made their wedding day memorable, even managing to find a beautiful vintage bike that the groom simply had to have.

Amazing entertainment from two fantastic bands as well as some great summer games ensured this was truly a fun packed and beautiful day.

Flossie’s Weddings

Hello to all of the readers of Jess’s fantastic wedding blog. My name is Stephanie Marsh, and I’m the founder and creative director of Flossie’s Weddings, a Cheshire based venue styling and bespoke stationery business, and I’ve written the following short overview on Venue Styling.

The Importance of Personalisation

The importance of personalising your wedding day shouldn’t be understated nor the expensive affliction that some people believe it to be. It starts from the moment you send out your save the dates/invitations, right through to when you friends and family walk in to your Wedding Venue. It’s the personal touches to your venue that help your guests engage with you and your partner, and allows them to appreciate the effort you’ve gone to in making your big day extra special.

Ignite the Creativity

Rest assured, most of my customers come to me and completely unsure on what it is they want their venue to look like. That’s where I come in! My job is to ignite the creativity in my brides and grooms, and help them capture the themes, styles and colours that best represents them as a couple. I use a lot of visual representations of centrepieces, chairs covers/sashes, example stationery to help my couples over the first major hurdle in personalisation of their big day.
The Light Bulb Moment
The most enjoyable aspect of my work is the moment my customers transition from “I have no idea what I want” to the “I have this great idea” stage. That’s when the venue styling becomes an exciting prospect, as opposed to being just another thing that’ll eat in to the rapidly depleting wedding budget.

Flossie’s Top Tip
My top tip is to plan your stationery and venue styling well in advance of your big day (not to panic the late planners amongst us!). Not only will that give you enough time to work out exactly what your theme is, it also prevents disappointment with not being able to book the suppliers that you really want.
If you’d like any advice, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Steph
