Unplugged Weddings

There are alot of blogs and on un-plugged weddings so I thought i’d add my own thoughts on the matter.
Iphone’s, Ipads, Selfie sticks and uncle bob’s are the main focus as to why you may consider having an unplugged wedding.

As a wedding photographer I do my best to capture faces rather than screens, it doesn’t bother me as I know your guests want to capture you as a couple on one of the happiest days of your life, and you have chosen them to witness it. I am there to document the day, to capture you and your loved ones.

An unplugged wedding is where you and your guests ‘unplug’ from the world, be it your phone or any other technology that is around. It is about enjoying the moment , looking back up the aisle and seeing all of your friends and families faces.

Some couples put an ‘unplugged’ sign up just for the ceremony, as they want this part to be unobtrusive and relaxed – not feel they have 100 camera’s on them.

I have attended ALOT of weddings, some are unplugged and some not – for me it doesn’t matter either way…..it makes my job easier if it is unplugged as i can see the happy smiling faces.

I was recently a guest at a wedding – (i know…. amazing!!!) They had an unplugged wedding and it worked so well, it allowed the photographer to document the day, especially during speeches when you are photographing at a lower level to allow the guests to see the speaker, its best not to have a phone in front of faces.

I speak to ‘uncle bob’s’ who bring their camera’s and huge lenses to your wedding, they want to capture their niece/nephew over my shoulder and that’s totally fine – I love talking camera gear.

Capturing memories are so important, so my thoughts on it are – have an unplugged ceremony & speeches….. the rest of the day let the guests capture you for their memories.
