Browsholme hall & Tithe barn // Jessica & Jonathan
Jessica and Jonathan had the most brilliant autumnal, musical, family orientated, church wedding in October this year. Followed by an epic, magical, flower filled reception at gorgeous Browsholme Hall Tithe Barn. It is such a beautiful setting and Jess and Jon had styled it to total perfection! Everywhere I looked were thoughtful details, touches and amazing decoration. Jon told me that they wanted a mix of quirky and chic for the day and that Jess loves matching and a bit of attention to detail. Well, all their wonderful plans and hard work certainly paid off as it looked incredible!
Jon and Jessica met in their first year at Durham University and have been inseparable since. Jon planned a lovely romantic surprise proposal by filling their new flat with tea lights on the day they moved in…..so lovely! They set their wedding date for October as Jessica teaches and was on half term and it was also the same weekend 37 years ago that Jess’s parents were married.
They found me on social media and through the wedding awards;
We loved Jess’s documentary style! We didn’t want to spend our day with flashes and camera lenses in our faces – Jess was able to blend into the background and still capture incredible moments of the day. She was very flexible and rolled with changes on the day. We couldn’t recommend her enough!
Once they set the date they sent me a lovely and memorable enquiry, Jon wrote;
Firstly, my fiancé and I absolutely love your pictures! We are recently engaged and my fiancée is extremely good looking and I am famous amongst our friends for blinking in every single photo I’ve ever had so we really do need your help so I don’t ruin the day!
It made me smile and well of course was a challenge I just had to accept!
When the the wedding day arrived, it turned out to be one go the wettest October days EVER, darn that British weather! It meant we had to swap the confetti shot for some pretty cool brolly action which looked fabulous. We made up for it too with a bit of impromptu sparkler and brass band dancing action in the evening under the stars and rain showers. Which, I can neither confirm nor deny was instigated slightly by those who’d been enjoying the bespoke gin bar in the Tithe Barn!
Jessica and Jon had a really clever postal theme throughout the day and in the Tithe Barn with a bottle green and ivory colour palette, from the font on the save the date to the bridesmaid dresses and fur …even the coaches were a perfect shade of bottle green.
For the postal theme we had wedding stationary with our own postmark, postcodes for table names and address books & map to explain each postcode and what it meant to us (mentioning lots of the important guests), the postcard guest book (select a postcard of where you are from or met Jess and Jon and recommend an adventure and post it into a postbox) to each course of the menu being linked to a relevant location (Swanage, Forest of Bowland, Lake District)!
The couple chose the Tithe Barn as it is such a unique venue and prioritised the floral decoration. Red Floral Architects really made the most magical impact with tall hurricane vases exploding with loose foliage, flowers and hanging candles.
They were so ethereal and the cosy ambience in the bare stone walled barn was perfect. We also wanted the music both in the church and at the venue to be amazing with a family full of musicians the quality needed to be high. We also love food and wanted the food to be epic!
I always love to hear about my couples’ favourite moments from the day, with all the planning that goes in to a wedding day it’s beautiful to hear about the feelings and moments that were special to them;
We loved belting out hymns in church and listening to the quartet sing, both fumbling over the same line in the vows, the flash mob entrance of the surprise band and walking into the main room of the barn and seeing how everything had come together – magical. ( it really was!)
Thanks so much for everything Jess you were fab!
